We Are

HOUSE OF HEROES

VOLUNTEER

Serving as a volunteer on a House of Heroes™ project is fun, easy and best of all rewarding. You don’t have to possess any home repair or construction skills. Our project leaders will teach you everything you need to know.

The leaders of organizations whose employees have served on a team building event with HOH report that it was a phenomenal experience.

Whether comfortable with swinging a hammer or talented at comforting, we welcome you to help us make a difference in a day. Our home projects utilize licensed craftsmen for all work required under construction code. For other tasks we use our army of volunteers to clean, paint, landscape, and provide team logistics.

While most of our projects derive volunteers from the sponsoring organization, we occasionally need help for Chapter administration, events and independent veteran home projects.

TESTIMONIALS

This lady's husband and others like him paid a real high price so we can live under [the American flag]...If we did this kind of work every weekend of the year, we wouldn't make a dent in what we owe them.
~ Sheila McGill

It takes just a little bit of know-how and good ol' elbow grease to make a big difference for these folks who have spent their whole lives serving their country.
~ Chuck Walls

It's fun because you get out of class to help other people.
~ Anthony Hamilton (age 16)

This was a fulfilling experience for me. My grandfather, father, and stepfather were all in the military. It was good to give back to the veterans in their time of need.
~ Lee Jernigan

Many of our veterans have suffered physical or mental handicaps. So it was great to give something back to them for all that they have done for us.
~ Cheri Johnson

It is a real privilege to be able to serve these families who have sacrificed so much for our nation. This project…serves as a wonderful leadership and team building opportunity.
~ Chip Torbert

This is a labor of love.
~ Sue Ginter

This means a lot to me because I served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Knowing we were coming to work on a veteran's home is an incredible feeling….Working on veterans' homes is a small thing compared to what they have done for us.
~ Luther Rutledge

I am very glad I participated. I'm a former veteran of the U.S. Army and it meant a lot to me to give back to an Army family.
~ Tim Sanders

I had a great time….I was personally touched when the owner…expressed her appreciation to all the people working on her house. She was truly grateful.
~ Suzanne Kump

I believe [this program]…can demonstrate to needy veterans and their spouses that we care--that we appreciate what they have done.

~ Ralph Puckett

One of the most personally rewarding projects for me…EVER!!!
~ Linda McLemore
